PA has a staff of about 200 and a turnover in excess of £11M; it has one of the UK’s largest atomic and molecular physics group who have a major activity in the provision and curacy of data sources for atmospheric, astrophysical and plasma modelling work. PA also has significant data users among its astrophysicists and atmospheric physicists. UCL/PA will lead the activity defining a dictionary and semantics for atomic and molecular data storage and retrieval; will overview the construction of a modern atmospheric database (eHITRAN) in collaboration with Harvard-Smithsonian (home of HITRAN); will participate in activities associated with astrophysical data particularly when involving extremely large datasets.
